This exclusive retreat is situated in the lush Valley of the Olifants, 59km from Hoedspruit Airport.

Makalali, comprises 24,000 hectares of Lowveld acacia bush and open savanna grassland surrounding the lush Makhutswi River. Makalali offers exciting game viewing opportunities to view lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, rhino, zebra, kudu and a variety of other antelope, as well as smaller mammal species.

The 4 camps are totally private, yet within easy access of each other. Each camp also has its own uniquely designed swimming pool, boma and enclosed dining and lounge area. Each camp consists of 6 spacious thatched suites, each with a large bedroom and bathroom, and adjacent day room or ‘sala’, built on stilts and nestled in the branches of jackalberry trees. The huts all have outside showers, private decks and fireplaces.
