Day 1: (Mon): Windhoek / Etosha
On arrival at Windhoek Airport, collect your hired vehicle and travel north towards the famous Etosha National Park. Known as 'the place of dry water' Etosha National Park is one of the best game reserves in the world and offers a truly unique wildlife experience.
Day 2: (Tue): Etosha National Park
Spend the entire day in the park, exploring the waterholes along this enormous saltpan. The Park is one of the last remaining natural wild sanctuaries of the endangered black rhino. Etosha's elephants are thought to be the tallest in Africa, and the black-faced impala is endemic to this area.
Day 3: (Wed): Etosha National Park / Damaraland
Set off this morning travelling onto Khorixas. Visit one of the many strange rock formations in this area, the one that stands out is a 35m tall pillar called Vingerklip or Rocky Finger, carved over millions of years by wind and rain.
Day 4: (Thu): Damaraland / Swakopmund
Drive south towards Swakopmund, Namibi's most popular coastal resort. It looks very much like a Bavarian village, with characteristic shops as well as restaurants and hotels.
Day 5: (Fri): Swakopmund
Swakopmund is the adventure hub of Namibia. Several optional activities (for your own account) can be arranged during your stay in Swakopmund. We recommend a trip to Walvis Bay for a boat excursion, to see the dolphin and seal colonies that inhabit this area. For those adventurous spirits, who wish to experience the boundless expanse of the shifting sand dunes, include quad biking and dune boarding.
Day 6: (Sat): Swakopmund / Windhoek
Board the Desert Express from Swakopmund to Windhoek today. We recommend you arrange to board your vehicle on the train (own account - must be pre-booked). The Desert Express departs from Swakopmund in the early afternoon and stops at the Stingbank siding. Here guests enjoy the sights of the Khan Valley, while on a short nature walk followed by a sundowner. Back on the train, enjoy a beautiful sunset and the ever-changing desert scenery from the comfort of your compartment or the Spitzkoppe Lounge. Dinner is served on board.
