Day 1: Arrive Cape Town / Hermanus
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you are met by a Thompsons Representative and assisted to your hired car. Depart Cape Town heading eastwards via Gordon’s Bay and Kleinmond, to the quaint coastal village of
Hermanus. Hermanus lies along the shores of Walker Bay near the southern most tip of Africa, and is renowned as the best land based whale watching destination in the world.
Day 2: Hermanus / Knysna
This morning set off along the Garden Route, well known for its lush green countryside, endless stretches of beach, rocky shorelines, lakes, winding rivers and mountain passes, to Knysna.
Day 3: Knysna
We recommend a ride on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe (steam train), which travels between the towns of Knysna and
George, as well as a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon with a visit to the Featherbed Nature Reserve.
Day 4: Knysna / Oudtshoorn /
Calitzdorp Drive up the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’, because of its large ostrich industry. View the magnifi cent Cango Caves, an astounding natural wonder, before continuing on to Calitzdorp, the Port Wine capital of South Africa.
Day 5: Calitzdorp / Montagu
Follow ‘Route 62’, one of the most beautiful travel routes in South Africa, as well as one of the least known and
least travelled ones, making your way through the Huisrivier Pass, Ladismith, Barrydale and on to the romantic village
of Montagu.
Day 6: Montagu / Winelands
Travel through spectacular mountain passes, via Robertson and Worcester to the Cape wine producing areas of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. We recommend you stop at a few wine estates to sample some of the wine
produced in this area.
Day 7: Cape Winelands / Cape Town
Spend the morning at leisure before returning to Cape Town International Airport for your onward journey. |
