Itinerary


DAY 1: WED CAPE TOWN - MONTAGU
Travel via Cape Winelands to Stellenbosch. Wine tasting and museum visit. Continue to Worcester and
Robertson. Overnight in Montagu.

DAY 2: THURS MONTAGU – OUDTSHOORN 
Travel to Oudtshoorn via Barrydale and Ladismith. Tour Ostrich Show Farm (guided). After lunch, tour vast
limestone Cango Caves. Overnight in Oudtshoorn. [BL]

DAY 3: FRI OUDTSHOORN - KNYSNA
Travel over Outeniqua Pass to George, continue to Knysna and board ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve.
Enjoy trailer ride to top of Western Head and walk back through Milkwood trees for lunch. Overnight in Knysna.

DAY 4: SAT KNYSNA
Drive through Nature’s Valley and the Tsitsikamma Forests. Return to Knysna via Plettenberg Bay. Overnight in
Knysna. [B]

DAY 5: SUN KNYSNA - HERMANUS
Travel via George, Mossel Bay and Swellendam (lunch). Continue to Hermanus - world’s best shore based whale
watching sites (Aug - Nov). Overnight in Hermanus. [BL]

DAY 6: MON HERMANUS - CAPE TOWN
Depart Hermanus via coastal road to Somerset West. Continue to Cape Town where tour ends on arrival late
afternoon. [B]

Passengers may disembark, on request, at Cape Town International Airport.

Community visits:

COMMUNITY FARM SCHOOL (BARRYDALE, WESTERN CAPE)
During the 1960s farmers in the area decided to build a school for the labourers’ children. The multi-grade school
offers education to children from Grades 1 - 6, with four classrooms, two teachers (one of whom is the principal)
and an administrative clerk. The school receives a “Norms and Standards” allocation from the government which
subsidises school fees, text books and general expenses.
