DAY 1: WINDHOEK – KALAHARI DESERT
Depart Windhoek for Rehoboth, capital of the Baster Community.
There is a short stop where the history of the are is explained
Time permitting, there is time to visit the museum
Depart Rehoboth and travel to Kalkrand via the Tropic of Capricorn
Continue your journey and arrive at Kalkrand for a short comfort stop
Depart Kalkrand
Travel via Stampriet. Lunch (for own account). Look out for memorials of German soldiers from the Herero War in 1904 –1906
Arrive at your lodge in the Kalahari Desert for check in.
Guests can enjoy refreshments before proceeding on a game drive with a sundowner drink served on top of a Kalahari dune
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight

DAY 2: KALAHARI DESERT – FISH RIVER CANYON
Depart your lodge early and travel through the Kalahari Desert to Koes on the C15 and C17 and view the Kalahari dunes.
Arrive at Koes for a quick comfort stop
Depart Koes and continue to the Quiver Tree (Kokerboom) Forest
Arrive at the Quiver Tree Forest (Kokerboom). The forest has ± 250 of these unique trees in total whose name derives from the San hunters, who used a dead branch as a quiver for their arrows
Continue to Keetmanshoop for a lunch stop (optional & for own account)
Depart Keetmanshoop and continue to the Naute Dam (2nd largest dam in Namibia) for a quick stop
Travel to the Hobas campsite, an entrance to the Fish River Canyon
Arrive at the entrance and visit the main viewpoint, Hikers Point and Table Mountain viewpoint.
Continue the journey to your lodge for our overnight stay
Optional sundowner walk ± 45 minutes before sundown from the lodge
Dinner and overnight at the lodge
NOTE: Sundowner walk is not suitable for elderly or infirm passengers as it involves some steep climbs
DAY 3: FISH RIVER CANYON - LUDERITZ
After breakfast we travel on the C12 to Seeheim and rejoin the main road to Lüderitz and continue the journey towards the coast via Aus
Stop just before Aus at the site of a POW camp for± 2500 interned German soldiers from WW1
Continue to the Sperrgebiet, the forbidden Diamond area for a short photo stop. This is also an area where the feral horses of the Namib can be seen
Stop at the Garub waterhole to view the feral horses
Depart the waterhole and travel to Lüderitz for lunch (optional & for own account)
After lunch, check into your hotel
This afternoon you will depart on a drive of the Southern Peninsula
Visit Diaz Point and the viewpoint opposite Halifax Island where you may spot Jackass penguins who breed here. Possible sightings of dolphins
Return to Lüderitz and visit the Lutheran Church, known for it’s beautiful stained glass windows, one of which was a gift from Kaiser Wilhelm
Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight

DAY 4: LUDERITZ - MALTAHOHE
Depart your hotel and continue to Kolmanskop – once known as the richest town in the world
On arrival you will be taken on a tour of the town by staff of the Namdeb Mining company.
There is time to wonder around on your own after the tour
Continue from Kolmanskop to Aus for a quick comfort stop
Depart Aus for Helmeringhausen via the Neisip Plain
Stop en route for a lunch (optional for own account)
After lunch continue your journey to Duwisib Castle
Arrive at Duwisib Castle for a visit
Leave the castle and travel to Maltahöhe
Arrive at your rest camp for dinner and overnight
DAY 5: MALTAHOHE – NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK
Early breakfast before travelling to Sesriem
Arrive at the gate (sunrise) and travel to Sossusvlei through the Tsauchab River Valley and view some of the highest dunes in the world
Arrive at the 4x4 station where you will board 4 x 4 vehicles and a travel along the river bed into the heart of the Namib Desert
Return to the 4 x 4 station, and continue the journey in your touring vehicle to the Sesriem Canyon
Depart the canyon and travel past the Naukluft Mountains to your lodge for your overnight stay
Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch (optional and for own account)
The rest of the day is at leisure
Dinner and overnight at the lodge
DAY 6: NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK - SWAKOPMUND
After breakfast travel via Solitaire and Kuiseb Canyon to the plains of the Namib Desert.
Visit the Ganab and Hotsas waterholes – where oryx, springbok, ostriche, warthog and giraffe might be seen
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park – dependant on time and viewing of animals
After lunch, travel on the C28 to the Welwitschia Plain to see the Welwitschia mirabilis – one of the most unique plants on earth
Continue the journey to the Moon landscape – an area which was formed by intense volcanic rock ± 200million years ago
Travel to Swakopmund
Arrive at your hotel in Swakopmund where the rest of the afternoon is at leisure
Overnight on Swakopmund
DAY 7: SWAKOPMUND - WINDHOEK
After breakfast depart Swakopmund and travel to Walvis Bay and visit the Lagoon- considered to be one of the most important wetlands in the world
Flamingos, pelicans and other water birds can be seen here
Depart Walvis Bay and travel to Windhoek
There is a short comfort stop at Karibib where we visit the Henckert’s Tourist Centre
Departing Karibib you will travel to Okahandja and visit the Herero graves and the craft market
Continue your journey to Windhoek where your tour ends on arrival |
